Sunrise Movement

The Sunrise Movement is a national, youth-led organization fighting for climate justice.

We Want to Live

In November 2021, Biden’s Build Back Better plan was still on the table and Joe Manchin was the key road block. I took a spontaneous day off of work to go to DC and help Sunrise with a video for the cause. Up until this point, Manchin had been getting too much positive press painting him as trying to do right for his constituents. We sought to raise some hell in public to expose his real motivations.

I shot the video in collaboration with my Sunrise video buddies Adal Rivas, who came in from Texas, and Bella Smith, who made the journey from North Carolina. I then did the edit in just hours following the action, so we could post the video while the event was still relevant.

The video capped off a day in which we, you could say, “won the internet”—all the major news outlets and Twitter users were finally discussing Manchin’s true colors. Twitter latched onto the moment Manchin almost ran over some of my friends in his Maserati, earning him the nickname #MaseratiManchin.

Local Organizing

I also made digital assets for Philly’s local Sunrise Movement hub.

I wrote this text in collaboration with organizers from Philly Thrive. I then designed the graphic—complete with hand-lettering and illustrations.

Brown Girl Green

I was asked to create a graphic presentation for this climate justice centered Instagram account with 70,000 followers! It was a fun collaboration with the Brown Girl Green Art Direction team.
